By way of presentation, the firm Fotografica Foglia can cite with pride the comprehensive photographic survey of Pompei which it carried out on behalf of the Neapolis project, in which Fiat and IBM collaborated to build up an extensive data bank of part of Italy’s archaeological heritage.
Alongside this commission Fotografica Foglia produced a multivision feature called «Pompei – an unending story» which has earned critical acclaim, notably from the famous cinematographic photographer Vittorio Storaro.
Following in the footsteps of Brogi and Alinari and the photographic documentation they undertook at the turn of the century, the work of Fotografica Foglia on Pompei today represents both a highly important scientific record and also the first such enterprise to be carried out entirely by Neapolitan photographers. In fact, the Foglia Studio has been in the forefront of photographic activity in Naples since 1914, when Alfredo Foglia Senior was one of the leading pioneers. Under his guidance first his son Alfredo and then his grandson Pio have learnt and perfected the trade, so that now the firm can count on three generations of experience, all within the family, and can guarantee a combination of artistic soundness and technological expertise.
